This ring is made with a round wire. The setting is a faux tension setting. From the top view you see that the gem is set just in between the two sides of the ring, and from the side view you can see that the two sides are actually linked. This give the ring more strength. It is possible to make a tension ring, only with different material and thickness of the shank.
